On Fridays Morning Focus; Professor John Sweeney of the Geography Department in Maynooth discussed the recent storm damage with John Cooke.  The leading Irish Climatologist and Nobel Laureate gave his thoughts on the current weather situation.

Should slapping children be banned?  Aoife Griffen, ISPCC Regional Manager for the MidWest and John Cooke debated the issue following a recent survey carried out by the ISPCC.  Results from that report shows 73% of adults don't think slapping is an effective way of disciplining children.

 

 

Up next Bernard Purcell, Editor with The Irish World Newspaper in London spoke to John about the latest on the DCU student, Patrick Halpin, who is missing in London.  London Police have confirmed that a body has been found during the search for the missing teenager from Loughrea in County Galway. 

 

Noel Gavin from Kilkee is a Local Election Candidate in the Kilrush area.  Noel is a member of Independents together and joined John to discuss what his group stands for. 

 

Our resident Doctor Maire Finn from Ennis Family Medical Centre joined John in studio to discuss allergies and answer listener's questions.

 

Pauline Dunleavey from Kilrush RNLI joined John to urge people in Coastal areas- to stay inland and stay away from the shoreline.  Pauline asked people to not venture out for photo opportunities.

 

 

Michael Gibbons, Archaeologist spoke to John about the Old Kilfarboy Society's winter lecture series.
