Two men sleeping in public toilets in Ennis have expressed hope their situation will improve following calls for help from the local district court judge
Ennis District Court heard this week that 52 year old Joseph Pavelka from the Czech Republic and 36 year old Polish man Peter Baram are sleeping in the public toilets in the Market and Parnell Street areas of the town, due to a lack of money and their alcohol problems
John Cooke went to the Market Place in Ennis last evening and met with Josef Pavelka and Peter Baram along with members of the Help for the Homeless group in Ennis at the Public Toilet in which Josef has been sleeping – we heard how he got on on Friday’s Morning Focus
Anthony McDonagh is a anti homeless activist who did the translating for John– John also spoke to Anthony and Josephine O’Brien from the Help for the Homeless group – while Joseph and Peter also asked to say a word of thanks

Clare Historian Br. Sean McNamara has produced DVD of Lexicographer Peter O’Connell that will be officially launched on Monday at 8pm in Knockerra Hall
Peter – born in Carrowdotia South, Killimer – 1755 – Spent at least 30 years collecting words and phrases and compiling a dictionary – and travelled widely – he also ran a Hedge School in West Clare – 1819 – 1826
His work is still regarded as a valuable resource for explaining ancient Irish- as Br McNamara explained when he joined John in studio.
Aine Purcell, Chairperson of Ennis Tidy Towns had a word to call on members of the community to lend their support to a “Clean-Up Day” in Ennis on Saturday
Individuals and voluntary organisations throughout Ennis will come together tomorrow to participate in clean-up events in their local community
Organised by Ennis Town Council, the Ennis Tidy Towns Committee and other voluntary organisations, in conjunction with An Taisce’s National Spring Clean, the “Clean-Up Day” will take place between 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 pm.
