The inquest into the death of Savita Halappanavar is expected to conclude in Galway today
 
On Friday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with The Galway Independent’s online editor Marie Madden who has been covering the inquest from the beginning

The inquest finished hearing evidence yesterday
The inquiry heard the 31 year old died from septic shock after miscarrying her baby at Galway University Hospital in October last
She had been refused an abortion because of Irish law
Savita’s husband Praveen Halappanavar did not attend the hearing yesterday but is due to return today when a verdict is expected

Fianna Fail Agriculture Spokesperson Eamon O’Cuiv TD spoke with John ahead of a public meeting in Ennis this evening on CAP reform He said farmers will be consulted about their views as the crucial negotiations enter the final phase
The meeting will take place tonight at the Auburn Lodge Hotel in Ennis at 8.30pm
Representatives of all the different farming organisations have also been invited to the meeting
Deputy O’Cuiv also expressed his concerns about ongoing fodder shortages.

Denis Cullinan in Ennistymon spoke about Michael and this event in his memory and encouraged people to support them

A play based on the book is showing at Glor Theatre in Ennis tonight and tomorrow
Director and Producer of Tuesday’s with Morrie Breda Cashe was inspired when she read the book when her own father was very ill and dying
It resonated with her at a very deep level and inspired her to undertake this production – as she explained to John.
