The Government has set 2016 as the target for ending long-term homelessnes
Minister for Housing and Planning Jan O’Sullivan made the announcement at the launch of the Government’s Homelessness Policy Statement at the Custom House in Dublin yesterday

On Friday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Alice Leahy of  TRUST- who has been working with homeless people for decades

She said that there is always going to be homelessness
Simply providing accommodation will not combat the enormous problems that contribute to homelessness- they don’t need housing they need adequate support services

Today President Michael D Higgins will become a freeman of Ennis at a ceremony in the town council offices
A Civic Reception in honour of President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, will be held in the Civic Room, Ennis Town Council, Drumbiggle at 12 noon today

John O’Connell in Labasheeda encouraged people to support the Patricia Corbett Memorial 10K Walk/ Run that is being held this Sunday at 1pm
Registration fee €10- Begins at 12.30 in St Kieran’s Community Centre and the proceeds will go towards adventure play ground & Labasheeda Tidy Towns
