On Friday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined by guests to discuss the outcome of the the report into the death of Savita Halappanavar

Published yesterday, the report says medical staff failed to offer all management options – including a termination.
The clinical review – published yesterday says there was an inadequate assessment and monitoring of the 31-year-old’s deteriorating condition.
The Health Service Executive appointed inquiry team also says there was a non adherence to the relevant clinical guidelines on sepsis.

Petrina Vousden, Health Editor at The Irish Daily Mail spoke about the findings of the report.

World Elder Abuse Day is taking place tomorrow to raise awareness of the situation that research shows effects over 11,000 people in Ireland
Anne Dempsey of Third Age Senior Helpline was writing about this in yesterday’s Irish Times -she was asking people to try to imagine how it would feel to see unexplained withdrawals from your bank account, or losing your financial independence
Anne spoke with John about the different forms of elder abuse.

The official opening of the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk will be marked by the Mayor of Clare, Councillor Pat Daly today at 2.30pm at the Liscannor Bay Hotel  The Clare Coastal Walk Project is a standalone 12-km coastal walk linking the villages of Doolin and Liscannor, and also is part of the Burren Way long distance walking route
Eimear McCarthy, Rural Recreation Officer at the Clare Local Development Company, joined John in studio and Katherine Webster, Director of the Cliff of Moher Visitors Experience said this will have enormous benefits for tourism in the North Clare area. 

In our Morning Focus Health Matters slot today John was joined by Dr Maire Finn from the Ennis Family Medical Centre who spoke about skin cancer and answered listeners’ queries.

The Sixmilebridge and Kilmurry Scouts Club have bought the railway house in Sixmilebridge and have received planning permission to develop the building into a scout and community facility
The construction will begin on Monday and they plan to retain the character and features of the house and incorporate nearby sheds into the building
There will be a mass this evening at 7pm in the carpark for those who would like to attend
Noel Keaney of Sixmilebridge and Kilmurry Scouts spoke with John and said that for the past 30 years they’ve been using the school for their meetings so they are delighted to finally be getting their own home and it will also be open to all community organisations when it’s up and running.  

A TryDive to help fundraise for Share A Dream and Temple Street Hospital will take place this evening at 6:30pm at the Riverlodge Hotel in Ennis – Guinness World Record holder for scuba diving Christy Healy from Ennis will be there and he encouraged people to come along 
Christy joined John in studio to speak about his 20k Guinness World Record Attempt set to take place on Sunday 7th July
He will take to the depths of water all in aid of charity and setting a New Guinness World Record- if he’s successful he will  break/set 5 new world records
