A Limerick Gaelscoil says it’s looking forward to preparing for its First Communion ceremony next May – after parents voted to hold the sacrament on the same day as a pop concert
A row erupted after a small group of parents at Raheen Gaelscoil objected to the proposed date of May 24th 2014 – as One Direction are playing in Dublin that night
But the majority of parents wanted the date to be maintained – as they felt it disrespectful to reschedule the Holy Communion to accommodate the gig
A ballot among parents was overwhelmingly passed in favour of holding the ceremony on the proposed date of May 24th.

Fr Brendan Quinlivan – Diocesan Communications Officer – and Parish Priest of Scarriff, Feakle and Flagmount Killanena, gave his reaction to the story
He added that scheduling for communions is an increasing challenge as people’s live get busier.
