Ryanair says 300 new jobs will be created in Shannon as a result of it’s announcement of eight new routes from the Airport
The new services will create links between Shannon and Paris, Nice, Berlin, Munich, Warsaw, Krakow, Faro and Fuerteventura, while there will also be an increased number of flights to Stansted
300,000 additional passengers will pass through Shannon each year as a result of these flights, while Ryanair says the 300 new jobs will be a mixture of direct and indirect positions

On Friday’s Morning Focus Marian Egan spoke with Ryanair’s Deputy Chief Executive Michael Cawley to get more details.

Despite the positivity of Ryanair’s announcement, yesterday was a mixed day of news at Shannon as Aer Lingus announced that it’s to close its cabin crew base there, with the loss of dozens of jobs
The airline says the facility is no longer commercially viable after failing to strike a deal with staff to work on new transatlantic services, operated on smaller Boeing 757 aircraft
It was initially planned that these services would lead to the creation of 40 new positions, but the former flag carrier says it is now sub-contracting the cabin crew jobs to an outside firm, leading to today’s announcement
The facility is expected to close next March, and IMPACT spokesman Niall Shanahan gave the union’s reaction.
