Morning Focus Monday 19th May

On Mondays Morning Focus; John began by speaking to Clare mothers fighting to have their children's medical cards reinstated.  Catherine Pender from Cranny stopped Taoiseach Enda Kenny on the streets of Ennis during his recent visit.  Catherine lost her 'discretionary medical card' for her 5 year old son Rory 9 moths ago.  Noreen Keane from Clonlara also spoke to John as she continues to fight for a medical card for her son Ronan.

The financial status of the Rape Crisis Midwest Centre is at a critical point. They regrettably have been forced to implement cost saving measures including a decision to temporarily close the Clare and Tipperary service for at least one month and possibly more.  John spoke to Anne Ginnane, Therapist and counsellor in rape crisis Midwest and Breda Larkin a Volunteer counsellor about the closure and what it means for their clients.
