Plans for the development of a new National School in Sixmilebridge are back on track
The Department of Education has proposed that the building project for Saint Finnachta’s will be progressed through the architectural planning stage

Due to a population explosion in Sixmilebridge in recent years, there’s been huge pressure on local education services and the current school has been expanded through a series of prefabs to cater for its 400+ students.

Emergency accommodation has been secured for two homeless men in Ennis who have been sleeping rough in the town’s public toilets.
Czech national 55 year old Joseph Pavelka and Peter Baram from Poland have been sleeping in the toilets in the Market area of the town for the past two months due to a lack of money and chronic alcohol problems
There was huge local reaction to John’s interview with Joseph and Peter on this programme last Friday and calls for political intervention to assist two homeless men in Ennis who are currently sleeping rough in the town’s public toilets
Their plight was raised at a recent sitting of Ennis District Court and efforts are now being made to find the two men emergency accommodation
Mayor of Ennis Peter Considine and Independent Councillor Mickey Guilfoyle spoke with John.

Over the weekend the Constitutional Convention voted to recommend a referendum on same sex-marriage
In a joint statement yesterday advocacy groups Marriage Equality, the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network (GLEN) and the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) have welcomed the strong endorsement today by the Constitutional Convention of equal marriage as "an historic step"

The Banner secured their Division 1A status for 2014 with a dramatic win over Cork at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday
Trailing by two points entering stoppage time of the second half, Clare were facing relegation but for scores from Tony Kelly and a last gasp free from Colin Ryan, who top scored for the Banner with ten points
The Banner then played with the advantage of the wind in the first part of extra time, establishing a two point lead at the turn, and then fought off a Rebels fight back to win on a final scoreline of 0-31 to 2-23
