The Health Minister is due to officially launch the new daycare centre at Carrigoran House, Newmarket on Fergus this afternoon during his visit to the county
Minister Reilly will also visit Ennis General, St Joseph’s Hospital, Ennis Family Medical Centre and Clarecastle District Day Care Centre.

On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined in studio by Valerie Vaughan, Manager of Daycare at Carrigoran House, who spoke about the facilities now in place for the elderly at Carrigoran.

He also spoke with Mary Morrissey of the Clarecastle District Daycare Centre who spoke about the huge excitement and preparation underway this morning ahead of Minster Reilly’s visit this afternoon when he will officially open the Fergus Wing.

John Kidd, National Chairman of the Irish Fire & Emergency Services Association, was in Shannon on Saturday to brief local public representatives and community groups on the implications of the recently introduced Keeping Communities Safe  (KCS) policy for the future of emergency fire services in the country
He had a word with John about a numbers of meetings the IFESA are holding at the request of  firefighters in the county  who are concerned at the effects on the Clare fire services from the cuts in the KCS policy.

116 applications for care orders of children in Clare were made to the local courts over a one year period
Details of applications made regarding the welfare of children in Clare have been made available as part of the new Child Care Law Reporting Project which aims to provide information to the public on the operation of the child care system
The most recent figures available relate to 2011, and reveal that of 32 care orders made to the district court in Ennis, 18 were granted
35 supervision orders were sought with 25 of them granted, which Ennis District Court also granted 60 Interim Care orders in respect of Clare children
The orders may relate to multiple applications for the same family or the same child, but give an indication of how busy the Child care courts are here in County Clare
