It’s confirmed that the bill for the clean up and repair of the coastal areas of the county after storm Christine will be approximately €23.7m 

Following Friday’s meeting the Council’s estimate of the cost of the repair works will be sent to government ahead of this week’s cabinet meeting during which Ministers will discuss their response

On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined by Mayor of Clare Councillor Joe Arkins to get the details of the meeting

Bernie Keating of Keating’s Bar in Kilbaha also spoke with John 

It’s predicted that the cost of repairs in Kilbaha will amount to €3.4 m 

Stephen Rowan in Kilcredaun, Carrigaholt, also had a word about how things are there this morning. 

Sergeant Joe Downey, Crime Prevention Officer with the Clare Garda Division, joined John in studio

Clare’s Got Talent 2014 – the talent competition run by Clare FM- was launched this morning

It is a chance for anyone living in Clare to compete for a prize of €5,000 

John Cooke was joined in studio by Clare FM Presenter and Judge Brian Flynn – now a veteran of Clare’s got Talent having been a judge in 2010 and 2012

Also, Clare FM Head of Sales Mike Ryan and Louis Fay of St Francis Credit Union 

They are sponsoring the winners prize of €5000 as they did in 2012 and 2010

John Drummey of HD events- Clare FM’s Partner in Clare’s Got Talent – spoke about the logistics and running of the show from Auditions to the Grand final

Closing dates for applications is Friday 24th January at 5pm

Auditions take place in the Templegate Hotel on Friday 31st January, Saturday and Sunday 1st and 2nd February 

Semi Finals take place in Glor on Saturday 15th and Saturday 22nd February, Sunday 2nd March.

Grand Final takes place in Glór on Saturday 15th March

To mark to the commencement of the new helicopter transition to all Coast Guard bases the Coast Guard in conjunction with Clare FM would like the community surrounding  each base to name the helicopter that services its area, 

Clare FM’s Morning Focus  in its support of the wonderful work of the coast guard  are running a competition to name the Shannon based helicopter which will also have a water safety theme and remind people to visit www.safetyonthewater.ie before they commence any leisure  or water based activity.

The winners and 3 runners up will receive a flight in the New Shannon based Sikorsky S92 helicopter and also a tour of the Coast Guard base at Shannon Airport
