On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Manuel DiLucia Junior of Kilkee Marine Rescue who was at the scene of an incident in Kilkee yesterday
Gardaí are trying to establish the identity of a man who died whilst swimming in Kilkee bay yesterday evening.
The alarm was raised shortly before 6 o’clock when the man was discovered face down in the water.
Emergency services worked for some time in an effort to resuscitate him before he was airlifted to Limerick University hospital but pronounced dead.
The man’s clothing was located at the scene but there was no identification and its not yet known if he was from the county or visiting the Kilkee area for the weekend.
With the fine weather looking like it’s here for a while Liam Griffin, Clare’s Water Safety Officer urged people to take care in water and only swim where their are lifegaurds in duty.
Dr Allan Mee of the Golden Eagle Trust had a word about how the eaglets of Mountshannon are progressing
He expects them to take their first flight this week
They have been hand feeding the eaglets for a few weeks now after the parents fled having been disrupted by a camera being erected at the site on Bushy Island.
John Harvey, Chairperson of the Mountshannon Community Council says the community is happy with how the eaglets are progressing
But he expressed frustration that the eaglets of Mountshannon had been ignored on a national level- despite the fact that the eaglets in Clare were born ahead of the eaglet in Kerry.
John Ryan occupied his house in the ghost estate of Ard na Deirge in Killaloe this day last week
In the meantime Killaloe Gardaí have confirmed they will take no further action against him
The house is without electricity, running water and sanitary services but John has occupied the property in spite of AIB and its receiver, KPMG
John and others who had purchased properties in the estate have been waiting for seven years for this issue to be resolved
Fed up waiting for the final completion of the sale of the estate and the connection of services, the 68-year-old ignored warnings he was trespassing on private property by entering his home.

This morning we began a new series on The Tribes of Dal gCais – The Clans of Clare
The Tribe of Dal gCais is a new 15 part series in which 15 Clan names were chosen who’s origins are based in Co. Clare. Each Clan name descends from the The Tribe of Dal gCais who were a powerful network of Families from the 10th Century that ruled the Kingdom of Thomond.
The series was produced by Denise Woods and we’ll be featuring a different tribe each day over the next three weeks.
