On Monday’s Morning Focus Marian Egan was joined in studio by a number of Clare county councillors – the newly elected Mayor of Clare – Ruan Councillor Joe Arkins; Deputy Mayor John Crowe of Sixmilebridge and outgoing Mayor Councillor Pat Daly from Ennis

They spoke about their hopes for the year ahead, councillors pay and expenses and changes to Clare’s electoral boundaries.

Yesterday Clare were knocked out of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship.
The Banner were beaten by Cork at the Gaelic Grounds, in a final scoreline of 0-22 to 0-15
Clare, playing with the advantage of a strong wind in the first half, led 0-11 to 0-8 at the break with Podge Collins scoring the first 3 of his five points from play
However, the Rebels eased away in the second half, and ran out seven point winners
Clare FM’s GAA Commentator Syl O’Connor spoke with Clare Senior Hurling Manager Davy Fitzgerald after the match.

Des is celebrating 50 years as a professional actor, he most recently completed a hugely successful summer season at the Gate Theatre in Oscar Wilde’s A Woman Of No Importance
He has been a constant presence on both the Abbey and Gate stages and presented the hugely popular Music For Middlebrows on RTE Radio 1 for many years
Marian was joined by Des who said he’s looking forward to his visit to Ennis.

John Murphy, Chairperson of the Clare branch of Birdwatch Ireland was in studio to answer listeners’ bird and wildlife queries.
