The ‘Rate Your Town’ results were published in the Sunday Independent yesterday
The public got the opportunity to rate their town for services and all matters of consumer issues in Ennis town  

On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with David Fitzsimons, CEO of Retail Excellence Ireland to discuss Ennis’ score

Overall the survey found Ennis performed below the national average, however there was a positive rating for the pubs and restaurants of the town
People rated car parking availability 15% below the national average and pricing is 17% below
Another finding was that people feel 8% less safe and secure than the average Irish citizen

Brian O’Neill, President of Ennis Chamber and John Dillance of the Ennis Development Forum commented on the findings.

Ongoing incidents of violence around Ennis town involving some members of the travelling community were also discussed on this morning’s programme
Fr Tom Hogan, Administrator Ennis Parish, was a celebrant at the wedding in Ennis Cathedral last Thursday outside which a violent fraca occurred
He said the family involved were mortified and very upset at what happened and he appealed to those involved to sort out their differences in a peaceful manner and not to put the safety of others at risk
Mayor of Ennis Peter Considine condemned the incident 
Martin Collins, Spokesperson for the traveller lobby group Pavee Point said these incidents are very unfortunate but perpetrated by a very small minority of the travelling community

Sergeant Joe Downey, the Crime Prevention Officer with the Clare Garda Division joined John in studio
He appealed to the public for information on the incidents and appealed for calm

A caller “Frank” witnessed some trouble in the Maville estate on the Kilrush Road, Ennis last week- he spoke with John and described what he saw.

They will be facilitating seminars upcoming throughout the county aiming to help communities identify projects and explore the technical and funding aspects of conservation work
The first meeting is taking place in Killaloe tomorrow evening
Ennis based Conservation Architect Paul Conway  and Joe Saunders of Clare Heritage Forum joined John in studio to explain and urge those interested to attend their local meeting.
