Ennis Town Council members are to Write to the Taoiseach, Environment Minister Phil  Hogan, Senators to ask them to consider retaining but reforming town councils as opposed to their abolition in 2014

This comes following the weekend result in the referendum in which the country opted for the retention of the Seanad
Irelands electorate voted against the coalition campaign to abolish the upper house with a 52% majority saying the would like to keep it
Councillors now believe the same can be done with Town Councils

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Independent Ennis Town Councillors Tommy Brennan and Micky Guilfoyle about their hopes, and plans.

Lecturer and Organisation Advisor Jacinta Kitt is presenting a talk as part of Mental Health Week in the Templegate Hotel, Ennis this evening at 7.30pm
Organised by Ennis Soroptimists and Ennis Mental Health Association, the talk will focus on the dynamics of bullying in the home, school and workplace
Jacinta spoke with John and said a climate of unacceptability to an sort of bullying behaviour must be created in society as a whole – with a focus on broader guidelines for prevention
She encouraged people to come along to the talk this evening in Ennis.

Legendary Broadcaster Gay Byrne spent five decades in Irish broadcasting on both his RTÉ morning radio show and the world record setting run of  the Late Late Show (from 1962 to 1999)
Gay is bringing his one man show to Glor tomorrow night – it has enjoyed enormous success throughout the country
He spoke with John about his career highs and his retirement plans.

A special dundraising Night for the Jack & Jill Foundation will take place on Saturday night at Downes Bar & Lounge, Bealaha, Doonbeg
The community there has suffered from tragedies recently and are endebted to Jack and Jill who provided services, support and comfort for many families coping with illness and tragedy
Lisa McMahon of the Organising Committee in Bealaha encouraged people to come along and support
Liaison Nurse with Jack & Jill Foundation Mags Naughton joined John in studio to speak about the services offered to families by the Jack and Jill Foundation

Established in 2007 by World Missions Ireland, schools throughout the country participate in the National Day of Prayer and Share, which this year takes place on Friday
Jackie Pallas – National Secretary of Missionary Children – spoke with John and said it is a wonderful example of little children praying for and sharing with their less fortunate counterparts in the developing countries
They are one of the 42 schools in the Clare area participating in the National Day of Prayer and Share this Friday
Edel Lynch of St. Joseph’s National School in Miltown Malbay joined John on the line
She said they have been involved in fundraising for the cause since 2002.
