On Thursday Morning Focus; John spoke to Killaloe man and rugby legend Anthony Foley about his appointment as Munsters next head coach.  Listeners called, text and facebooked their good luck wishes for the Clare man.

Up next Angela Naughton Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer with Clare Fire Service and Fianna Fail Ennistymon Councillor Richard Nagle who is also Chairman of the Councils Tourism and Economic Development Committee joined John to chat about the new rules for building houses have come about in the wake of problems including Priory Hall in Dublin and unfinished housing estates in Clare and other parts of Ireland.  Councillor Nagel told John these could significantly increase costs for young Clare Couple or families trying to build a home on their own sites.

Clare Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy has described his father as a "thug and a bully" during a speech on domestic violence. At a meeting of the Oireachtas Justice Committee yesterday, Shannon representative Tony Mulcahy called for greater powers to be given to Gardaí who are called to homes where an incident of domestic violence occured. He also said little has changed from when he was a child, and witnessed violence in his own home and eventually put his now-deceased father out of the family home. Senator Mulcahy received a round of applause for his speech, during which he said it's an issue which needs to be given much greater attention.  John played the audio from Senator Mulcahy’s speech and then spoke to Denise Dunne of Clare Haven Services about the issue of domestic violence.  Anyone wishing to contact Clare Haven can call 065 6822435.   

National Aontas Adult Learners Festival is taking place this year from February 24th to March 1st.  It is a nationwide campaign organised to encourage adults to participate in learning. Finally Albert Moylan spoke to John he is CEO of Gavico. The Clare Company is one of 122 high-tech start-ups which have been identified as having high potential by Enterprise Ireland. Tubber-based Gavico specialises in automated bovine monitoring, and is among the firms which are creating 1800 new jobs. They're being supported by Enterprise Ireland, who are hopeful the companies will grow quickly, and lead to hundreds of spin-off jobs in the coming years. The company currently has 3 part time staff and is hoping to have 2 new full time positions filled by September.
