Road works on the N18 Shannon to Limerick Road have been causing delays in recent days as surface rehabilitation works are carried out between Bunratty and Hurlers Cross
For those of you who have been experiencing delays in your morning or evening commute the bad news is the disruption will continue until Christmas, but the good news is that according to the NRA it will all be worthwhile given the improvements expected after the work is done

On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Sean O’Neill of the National Roads Authority to get more details.

A foul smell in the Shannon area has led to Senator Tony Mulcahy to contact the EPA asking them to investigate the odour in Shannon that seems to be concentrated in the Tullyvarraga area
Senator Mulcahy spoke to John and communicated his deep concern that the smell could indicate something more serious and he is anxious to have the EPA’s report into the matter.

Shannon B&B owner Marian O’Meara said the smell has been unbearable recently and Shannon Town Councillor Sean Mc Loughlin also spoke with John, he said there will be a public meeting to discuss the smell in Shannon on Tuesday at 8.30pm in the Oakwood Arms Hotel
He said the Environmental Protection Agency, Clare County Council and all public representatives have been invited to this meeting organised by the concerned residents of Shannon and all are welcome.

Clare Labour Party Deputy and barrister Michael McNamara spoke with John ahead of the referendum to establish a new court of appeal taking place next Friday
He has said that a new Court of Appeal would play a crucial role in clearing the large backlog that currently exists in the Supreme Court system
He’s urging people to vote yes to approve the establishment of a new Court of Appeal in the upcoming referendum on October 4th.

Pat Quinn – PRO of the Clare Ploughing Association – had a chat with John live from the National Ploughing Championships
Pat was mid-competition himself and spoke about how Clare competitors are doing at this year’s event.

The Che Do Bheatha Festival is taking place this weekend in Kilkee

Eileen Mulcahy of the organising committee spoke with John and invited all of those who aren’t going to Croke Park on Saturday to enjoy the match in the carnival atmosphere of the seaside town!

The Cops on Donut Shop event will take place from 10am – 6pm in Ennis town centre
A member of An Garda Síochana will be held captive in the specially constructed mobile donut shop
Members of the public will be asked to donate money and the more money donated – the longer the Gardaí will stay locked into the shop
