Practices at Clare and Limerick’s only Maternity Hospital could be placing patients at risk of health care associated infections
The latest Hygiene audit of the Maternity Hospital in Limerick found some improvements in infection control measures but said the physical environment, waste management and cleaning of equipment are still not being effectively managed to protect patients and reduce the spread of infections

On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined in studio by Frank Keane, Directorate Manager, Maternal and Child Care here in the Midwest.

Carrigoran House is taking part in the inaugural Nursing Homes Week 2013
The event is a celebration of nursing home life and the excellent care provided by Nursing Homes Ireland’s (NHI) 350+ Members in communities across Ireland
To celebrate the week, Carrigoran House is hosting  ‘Carrigoran House – Up For the Final’ Big Party at 3pm today
Paula McCarthy, Activites Coordinator at Carrigoran House had a word with John.

Padraig Chaplin of Setright’s Tavern in Cratloe also had a word
The landmark pub has been at the nub of a lot of attention this week as it prepares for a hectic Sunday with many of the county team local lads
St Joseph’s Doora Barefield member Joe Queally joined John in studio
He said the hurlers have given this county the best boost they could have by their achievements so far and wished them well ahead of the weekend.

Gavin Grace joined John in studio with an update on ticket availability for Sunday.

Tenor Dean Power from Clarecastle is just home from Munich, where he’s progressing well is his Opera career
He is giving a charity concert to raise funds for Croí( the Irish stroke and heart foundation) on Saturday 7th of September.( The night before the All-Ireland.)
Dean is a former Lismorahaun singer, now working at the Bavaria State Opera and has a contract for another year. He just spent the summer working at the Glyndebourne opera festival which finished up with a concert for the BBC proms at the Royal Albert Hall and joined JOhn in studio for a chat
He also performed and was accompanied by pianist Michael Hennessey.
 
Alan Sheridan in Castleblaney, Monaghan is the owner of Pajo the Calf- who is famous after a photo of him eating a boiled egg at the kitchen table went viral
Pajo’s mom died after he was born in June- he was raised by the cooker in the Sheridan family home
Pajo has form for predictions as he predicted many recent match results, he has predicted Clare to win this Sunday
Alan spoke with John and explained the technique he used- he attaches each county’s flag to a bale of hay and lets Pajo choose which bale he likes.
