Investigations into Detective Garda Adrian Donohue’s murder are ongoing
Justice Alan Shatter described the killing as was an attack on the entire Garda force and he said good progress is being made in the investigation

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Tom Brady, Security Editor of The Irish Independent about how the investigation is progressing.

Detective Donohue was the first Garda to be murdered in the line of duty since Detective Jerry McCabe who was gunned down in Adare, Limerick in 1996

A book of condolences for the family of the late detective Adrian Donohue has been opened in Kilkee Library, Ennis Garda Station, Killaloe Garda Station and Kilrush Garda Station.

It is speculated that the value of the home will go up in bands of €50,000 and it will be calculated by self-assessment
Householders will pay the rate attached to the nearest €50,000 band, so a house worth €220,000 will pay the rate for all houses between €200,000 and €250,000 of €500
However, it won’t be straightforward – there are all sorts of anomalies and grey areas that will make it difficult for homeowners to know how much their house is worth

The Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers said recently that they would discount farmhouse adjacent to farmyards by at least 50%
The SCSI say that farm houses situated away from the farmyard could be treated differently

A relief fund has been established for Clare farmers still feeling the effects of last year’s wet weather
Clare IFA is calling on people to contribute to the account, moneys from which will be used to help farmers who find themselves facing critical shortages of fodder and feed
Efforts to assist those farmers through seminars and clinics are continuing, but farming representatives in the county warn the full impact of last year’s persistent rain will only be felt in the coming months, when farmers feel the financial pinch

It comes amid calls for fully equal rights for the LGBT community in relation to marriage
