Gardai are investigating a fatal stabbing in Ennis overnight
The alarm was raised at around 1 o’clock this morning when the 31 year old victim – believed to a Polish national was stabbed in the Sandfield Mews estate – which is located opposite Ennis General Hospital
He was rushed to Shannon Airport – so he could be airlifted to Cork University Hospital for emergency surgery but died on route – A postmortum is due to be carried out in Limerick later today

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Clare FM’s Deputy Head of News Trudy Waters live frmo the scene at Sandfield Mews – she explained that it is sealed off pending a full technical examination

Ennis Garda Superintendent Derek Smart also spoke with John confirming that three people have been arrested in connection with the incident
Superintendent Smart also appealed for the public’s assistance with information on this incident
