It’s claimed that nearly a third of all cigarettes smoked in Clare are counterfeit tobacco

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus Gavin Grace spoke with Joe Sweeney, President of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents Ireland
He had the details of a new study that found that Ennis ranked 4th of 22 Irish cities and towns in the illegal sale of cigarettes that had no Irish duty paid stamp – Drogheda and Tallaght were the highest
The town was over four points above the national average of 27.9% and has risen by six points in the past six months
The NFNR is calling for the introduction of on the spot fines for the possession of counterfeit tobacco – spokesperson Joe Sweeny says the consumer can also play a role

Bathers in Doolin are again being warned not to try and swim with the local dolphin – Dusty -after another person was hospitalised after a reported incident with the wild mammal
On Sunday evening the woman was charged by the bottlenose dolphin as she left the water after a swim and struck in the kidney area – leaving her badly bruised and shocked
It’s the fourth such incident in recent weeks and the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) has erected warning posters at Doolin pier urging people not to enter the water when Dusty is in the area.
