On Tuesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke discussed cycling safety on our roads

Janet Cavanagh of E-whizz Electric Bike Rental and Tours based in Kilfenora spoke about a few concerning experiences she’s had with her bike tours recently
She said there are some people who don’t wait until cars passed to overtake cyclists and that she is having an increasing number of incidents of aggression from motorists on Clare roads
Janet asked how can we impress on people how dangerous these actions are on the lives of people and how bad they are for tourism in our county

Patrick O’Donoghue of the Burren Cycling Club also spoke about his experiences and had some tips for cyclists and motorists.

The public gallery of Clare County Council was packed with post masters and post mistresses from around the country yesterday as Councillors were warned the number of post offices left in Clare could be halved, if their contract to distribute Social Welfare payments is not renewed.
Large numbers attended the presentation by Irish Post Masters Union which outlined the need to keep their businesses and communities alive by retaining services like social welfare payments and taking on other services likes motor tax, local authority rent payments and future water charges.
Afterwards John spoke to Beatrice O’Riordan of Kilmihil Post Office, Garry McMahon of Clarecastle, and Kilmihil Post-Master Gregory Fitzgerald who told me why his colleagues had attended the meeting in such numbers

The Money Doctor John Lowe joined John to give out more personal finance tips and discuss recent events pertaining to our pockets!
He spoke about the NTMA cutting the State Savings interest rates, the What’s Left tracker… quarterly survey from the Irish League of Credit Unions and also changes in prize bonds, Bord Gais reducing their gas prices and 2nd level exam fees.

The three dolphins that were in the river in Bunratty in April have been observed in the Shannon estuary from a dolphin tour boat

Clare ISPCA Warden Frankie Coote joined John in studio for his regular chat about animal owners legislative obligations and has advice on the proper care of animals
Today Frankie spoke about two boars released in Sixmilebridge and dangerous dogs in Kilkee, Ennistymon and Scariff- he urged the owners to keep their pets restrained
