A Dublin crèche involved in an RTÉ investigation into alleged mistreatment of children has employed a psychologist to counsel parents who may have been affected
Gardai and the HSE are investigating after allegations of child mistreatment were made in separate crèches last week
The Links facility at Abington in Malahide is apologising profusely for the distress caused, and says it has dismissed one worker and suspended three others
A second crèche – the Giraffe centre in Stepaside – says its taking the issue very seriously and has suspended two members of staff

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Child Psychologist David Coleman who had some advice for concerned parents and local childcare provider Roisin Ryan – who manages Mother Goose Creche in Killaloe – also had a word.

A new report says Ireland’s draft abortion legilsation is necessary to provide for the HUam rights of women, but calls on these laws to go further , particularly for vicitms of rape and women’s who’s babaies have a fatal foetal abnormality
Amnesty International Ireland says our country needs to do more to protect women’s right and to improve conditions in Irish prisons, but also points to global affairs and says Syria is being failed by the international community

Last Thursday Dick Robinson – RNLI Volunteer in Ennis- received a Gold Badge from the life-saving charity at their Annual Presentation of Awards in the Barbican theatre in London
The award was presented by HRH the Duke of Kent, who is President of the RNLI
Dick was born into the lifeboat family in Valentia, County Kerry
For fifteen years Dick was both a volunteer crewmember and fundraiser for Valentia RNLI and for a further six years he was the Vice Chairman for the Listowel fundraising branch
Dick moved to Ennis and continued his fundraising work for the RNLI and since 1984 he has been the Branch Secretary and President for the branch
He joined John in studio to talk about receiving this award and his time in the RNLI.
 
Clare ISPCA Warden Frankie Coote joined John in studio for his regular spot where he provides advice on the proper care of animals and reminds owners of their legislative responsibilities
