On Wednesday’s Morning Focus Kilrush Superintendent Gerry Wall spoke with John Cooke to make an urgent appeal for information after the home of two elderly ladies was broken into over the weekend.

Between 10.30 -11.30 on Saturday night at least four people, believed to be male, entered a house in Kildimo, Bansha disturbing two elderly women who were in bed at the time
The group threatened the women – both in their 80s- and absconded with cash
Gardai are appealing for anyone who say any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact them at Kilrush on 065 908 0550 or call the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111.

Fr Gerry Kenny, Kilkee Parish Priest and local Councillor Pat Keane expressed the shock and disgust of the local community and urged anyone with information to share it with the gardai.

More than half of us are supporting local in our Christmas Shopping this year.
51% of those surveyed on the Clare-dot-fm website say they’ll stay in county Clare to shop local over the next two weeks, while 32% of of those who took part in the online poll said they’ll do most of their shopping in Limerick or Galway.
A further 15% of those who logged on to www.clare.fm said they do most of their Christmas shopping online , while 2% are heading to Dublin for their presents this year

They launched their Love Local campaign in November to urge shoppers and diners to spend their cash locally.

People across the country are being urged to give blood this Christmas
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is seeking 13,000 donations to get them through the festive season
The current stock level is four days – but this needs to be increased to seven days

Dr. Rosemary Power, an academic, author and a Minister at Christ Church, Shannon spoke with John to welcome people along to a seasonal Talk she is giving in Shannon Library this afternoon at 1.30pm – ‘Exploring the Nativity pages of the Book of Kells’
Rosemary is an Associate Researcher of N.U.I.G., has published widely on medieval Ireland and Scandinavia and on folk tradition
She recently wrote The Celtic Quest: a contemporary spirituality, and Walking Clare’s pilgrim paths: Kilfenora, Kilnaboy and Scattery Island.
