There’s been a 7 per cent increase in the number of visitors coming to Ireland

Tourism Ireland’s end of year review shows strong growth in overseas visitor numbers estimating that by December 31st – eight million people will have holidayed on the emerald isle
Further success is forecast for the tourism sector in Clare in 2014
The report shows a that while a 5 per cent increase was forecast – that’s been exceeded- with a 7 per cent rise in the number of people choosing to come to Ireland
 
On Wednesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke discussed the year for tourism and hospitality with Donnagh Cregson of Bunratty Cookery School, Chairperson of Clare Tourism Forum, Cillian Murphy, Chairperson of Loophead Tourism and Katherine Webster, Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience Director. 
 
The Gold & Glitz Remembrance Ball is an upcoming charity event taking place on New Years Eve in the Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis 
It will fundraise for two suicide prevention and awareness charities – The William Winder Rainbow Foundation and Pieta House
Organiser Andrea O’Loughlin and Mark Winder of The William Winder Rainbow Foundation in Mullagh joined John in studio to explain and urge people to support these worthy causes. 
 
The Midwest has received a significant employment boost with news that a pharmaceutical company is to create 300 jobs at the former Dell site in Limerick.
Regeneron is to set up a state of the art bio pharmaceutical plant in Raheen by 2016 and make a 217 million euro investment.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is taking over the site of the former Dell factory at Limerick’s Raheen Business Park which closed in 2009
If the company secures planning permission to transform the 12 acre site, construction will begin next year employing 600 builders on the project
Regeneron said it hopes to have its new campus open in 2016 and will be hiring scientists, engineers, technicians and administrative staff

Feakle native and reknowned folk singer Kate Purcell joined John in studio to share her Christmas Memories and performed two songs from her Christmas album.
