The Irish charity GOAL says hundreds of thousands of hapless Somalis will die unless a way can be found to truck food deep into the East African country
This tragedy is about innocent vulnerable people, affected by war, being unable to access the food they need desperately. Air drops of food will not keep the Somali people alive

Two investigations are to be carried out after a plane skidded off a runway on landing at Shannon airport on Saturday
The Irish Aviation Authority and the Air Accident Investigation Unit will both attempt to piece together the events that led to the plane veering onto the grass median, on its second attempted landing
An aircraft inspection will continue today
All 25 passengers on board the Aer Arann flight from Manchester to Shannon escaped unharmed

John Delaney CEO of the Football Association of Ireland and Ray Houghton, former Irish International, spoke to Clare Fm’s John Cooke about their week in Co. Clare as part of the FAI Festival of Football.  Last evening they attended a joint civic reception at Aras Chontae an Chlair along with Republic of Ireland Manager Giovanni Trappatoni and assistant manager Marco Tardelli. The Republic of Ireland manager will give a press conference in Ennistymon today to announce the team for the friendly against Croatia.

Morning Focus Thursday July 14

Minister for Justice Alan Shatter yesterday expressed “sorrow and a profound apology” to any child in Cloyne failed by the State
He promised to take action on foot of the report and put child protection measures in place saying words are not enough and condemnation is insufficient
The report deals with allegations involving 19 priests between 1996 and 2009
Victims got a chance to read it first - and the Government gave it's response
This will be the fourth major report into clerical child sex abuse in Ireland

Morning Focus Wednesday July 13

John Cooke spoke with a Roscommon mother of three with aging parents and parents in law on Wednesday's Morning Focus. Marie Gillooley got in touch with Clare FM to speak about the fear being felt as a result of loosing their A & E service
She was in the Dail Chamber for last week’s vote and is adamant that other small hospitals will not be far behind Roscommon – Ennis will also be further downgraded

Mornig Focus Tuesday July 12

Dr Mosajee Bhamjee, Former Consultant Psychiatrist at Ennis General Hospital and Former Labour TD for Clare joined John to have a word about the current state of the health service following his recent retirement.
He claimed that pre-election pledges to retain existing health services at Ennis General are now all "null and void".
He also said he believes Clare's County Hospital will be facing further cuts and will in effect be turned into a minor injury unit similar to that now in place in Roscommon.
