Gardai carried out a number of Mandatory Alcohol Testing Checkpoints overnight, including in Clare, under a national coordinated effort called Operation Surround.
The Clare regions saw 61 motorists tested in the Clonmoney West, Smithstown and Ballymurtagh area of Shannon Town as part of the operation with no arrests made.

A total of 1613 motorists were tested nationwide with 9 arrests made as drivers were found to be over the limit.
This operation is part of the Easter Bank Holiday Road Safety campaign.
