Clare’s Crime Levels Fell In

The number of burglaries, thefts and public order offences in Clare last year has fallen with overall crime levels down 3.5%.

The reduction in burglaries and thefts in Clare last year was small, but welcome nonetheless.

There was still nearly one burglary per day, with an annual total of 353, but this was down 22 when compared with 2013.

The number of thefts also reduced year-on-year by over 5% to 943.

There were also 100 fewer public order incidents, and crimes in which property was damaged.

Drugs related crimes were up, however, with Gardaí detecting an increase of 10% in the number of offences in this area while sexual offences were up by 14 on the previous year and by 5 when compared with 2012.
