Clare’s Live Register Hits Five-Year Low

There were further positive signs for Clare's live register last month.

The number of people signing on here has dipped below 8,000 for the first time since December of 2008, after over 600 left the dole queues as students returned to college.

Ennis accounts for nearly two-thirds of the drop, though falls were recorded in all areas.

In East Clare, a fall of 98 was recorded while in West and North Clare the falls were 93 and 78 respectively.

The number of people on the county’s dole queues is over 1,000 less than the same time last year.
