Council Assesses Limerick’s Northern Distributor Road Decision

Clare County Council says it's considering the decision of Limerick City and Council to reject plans for the Limerick Northern Distributor Road.

The controversial road was passed last week by Councillors here, in spite of strong local opposition from residents in Parteen and elsewhere in South-East Clare.

Yesterday, however, Limerick Councillors voted overwhelmingly against the portion of the project which would have been built on the other side of the county boundary.

It had been expected that a planning application for the road would be submitted to An Bord Pleanala late next year.
