Earlier this week Clare County Council revealed its plans to finally deal with the decade old issue of traffic congestion at Blakes Corner in Ennistymon.

The protected buildings will remain under what the authority calls its "preferred solution" but three occupied homes and a business will instead be demolished and a new Inner Relief Road and bridge built.

Local Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway has raised the issue in the Seanad.

He's demanding answers from the Ministers for Transport and the Environment, and also the Minister in charge of the OPW Simon Harris.

A public meeting will be held tomorrow night to discuss the issue at 7 o'clock in the Falls Hotel.

One of those involved is Sheena Clancy of West Clare Flowers who stands to loose her business premises and homes under the plans – she says people are furious – particularly over the lack of public consultation on the issue.
