Two former Clare TDs have defended the pension payments for former Oireachtas members.
It has emerged that from 2011-2014, 1.8 million euro has been paid to six former Clare TDs and one former Senator here.

Payments are based on length of service, and are boosted further if TDs served as a Minister.
One man who did just that is Brendan Daly, who says much of the 367 thousand euro that he received has been taken by the taxman.
