Garda Checkpoints Across Clare During Operation “Slow Down”

Garda checkpoints are being held on roads across Clare today as part of operation "Slow Down".

Gardaí are out in force on primary and secondary roads using laser handheld devices, garda safety camera vans and in-car speed detection systems in an effort to remind road users of the dangers of driving at excessive speeds.

195 people lost their lives on Irish Roads last year and while the number of road fatalities are down so far this year, Gardaí are asking drivers not to become complacent.

Sergeant Darragh Molloy of the Clare Garda Traffic Corps has told Clare FM about a number of other key areas they'll be looking out for at checkpoints across the county today.
