ICON Announces Midwest Expansion

Another jobs boost has been announced for the MIdWest, by a company which specialises in clinical trials.

ICON is hiring 200 new workers, with the jobs to be roughly "split evenly" in Limerick and in Leopardstown.

The new "global innovation hub" will bring the company's Irish workforce to 1,200.

The announcement comes as the government unveiled its latest Action Plan on Jobs, aims to see more people returning to Ireland than leaving it.

The Jobs Minister has once again promised a regional strategy for the Midwest and he says the region is becoming to catch up on the rest of the country. 

The updated plans lists 380 tasks for the government with a target of  40,000 new jobs for  this year.

Richard Bruton says he's confident the Midwest is bouncing back.
