Killaloe Hosts Medieval Feast

A medieval feast is held in Killaloe today, as part of the town's commemorations of it's most famous son.

It's 1,000 years since the death of Brian Boru at the Battle of Clontarf, and this weekend has seen him remembered with a wide-ranging program of events in the Clare town where he was born, and from where he raised.

Celebrations in Killaloe/Ballina are the first in a series of national events, which will also see Boru remembered in the likes of Cashel, Clontarf and Armagh.

His direct descendant, Lord Inchiquin, Conor O'Brien is proud that Ireland's best known High King will help boost the country centuries after his death.
