On June 27th, Lidl Ireland GmbH applied for planning permission to build a single-storey discount foodstore with an off-license sales area on the R471, or Main Street, of Sixmilebridge.

The entire building would be 2,290 square metres in size and the development would include surface level car parking spaces, electrical vehicle charging spaces, cycle strands and a trolley bay canopy.

Roof-mounted photovoltaic panels would be put in place while the application also provides for advertising signage including a flagpole sign at the entrance.

It’s stated vehicular access would be on the Main Road and an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing point would be constructed at the south-west corner of the site.

Also included in the application is a water pump and a perimeter wall with a railing and access gate which would be “integrated into the layout of the development”.

A decision is due on the application by August 21st and submissions can be made up until July 31st.
