National Air Ambulance Made Permanent

The national air ambulance service has been made permanent. 

The scheme has been run on a pilot basis by the Air Corps and HSE for 3 years – and operates out of Athlone.

It's expected to cost 2-point-6 million euro to run the service each year – with the West Coast and rural areas the main focus. 

Last year, there were 37 requests for the air ambulance service in Clare.
