Number Of Ukrainian Refugees In Clare Falls For First Time

The number of Ukrainian refugees in Clare has fallen for the first time.

The county continues to have the sixth-highest amount of Ukrainians nationwide with Ennistymon having the highest rate of any local electoral area in the country.

Central Statistics Office figures show that as of June 4th, there are 5,498 Ukrainian refugees residing in County Clare.

This means Clare remains the county with the sixth-highest number of Ukrainians, behind Dublin, Kerry, Cork, Donegal and Galway.

The figures indicate a marginal decline however as 5,519 were recorded as living in Clare in February – making this the first time the numbers have dipped here since the Russian invasion of the Eastern European nation in February 2022.

2,235 Ukrainians now live in the Ennistymon Local Electoral Area, 1,174 in Ennis, 1,057 in Shannon, 621 in Kilrush and 411 in Killaloe.

Ennistymon is still the Local Electoral Area with the highest rate of Ukrainian refugees nationwide at 12.38%.

As of June 4th, 102,879 Personal Public Service Numbers have been issued to Ukrainian refugees across the country.
