O’Gorman Names One Shannon Hub A Top Priority While Cathaoirleach

The incoming Cathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District insists getting the One Shannon Hub over the line will be one of his primary aims over the coming year.

Cratloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat O’Gorman will serve as Chairperson of the Shannon Municipal District for the next 12 months – succeeding Sinn Féin Councillor Donna McGettigan who’ll serve as Leas Cathaoirleach.

Fine Gael Councillor John Crowe will serve as Leas Cathaoirleach when Cllr McGettigan is unavailable and will assume the role if the Sinn Féin representative is successful in the next general election.

O’Gorman was first elected to Clare County Council in 1999 and wore the county’s mayoral chains from 2003 to 2004 before losing his seat – only to return to local politics in 2020 as a co-optee following Cathal Crowe’s election to Dáil Éireann.

Public consultation on the long-awaited multi-functional One Shannon Hub building took place late last year, and O’Gorman says it’s vital the facility caters to the public’s needs and wants.
