Nurses say there are more patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick today, than all nine hospitals in the east of the country combined.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 110 patients waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital during morning rounds.

UHL remained the busiest hospital in the country during the month of June, with 1,666 patients on trolleys, though this represents a reduction of 23 on June last year.
