Poor Sewage “Holding Back” Clare Communities

It's feared that poor sewage systems in five Clare communities could be holding back development.

The issue has returned to the spotlight today after photos published online showed raw sewage flowing from a pipe and into the air just yards from the waters' edge in Liscannor.

The North Clare community was identified as a problem spot by the EPA last year, in a report which also stated that raw sewage is being discharged at Ballyvaughan, Clarecastle, Kilkee and Kilrush.

Kilrush Independent Councillor Ian Lynch fears the issue is having a knock-on effect by “holding back” parts of the county.
