Clare's homeowners will likely have to wait until the end of the month before finding out how much they'll pay in property taxes next year.

However, legal advice provided through CEO Tom Coughlan stated that no ballot could take place before public representatives have been briefed on the budgetary implications.

Mr Coughlan says the executive now has a fortnight to put together the budget for 2015 a process that normally takes several months.

Meanwhile, a government circular issued to the Council has also revealed that €3.5 million of the Property Tax money collected in Clare will be spent on roads and housing here, costs previously covered by central funding.
