Questions remain unanswered about Clare’s ambulance service following a meeting of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West.

The Chairman of the Committee raised the issue of staff shortages following a number of incidents in recent months where no emergency cover was available in parts of the county.

The National Ambulance Service says a number of measures have been put in place including the introduction of an Immediate Care Service and the training of 66 new recruits who will join the national service in 2016.

But Clare Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom Mc Namara says this is an unsatisfactory response.
