Winds And Rain Batter Clare’s Coast

Clare Gardaí are urging caution on the county's roads this morning, after last night's heavy winds and rain.

Surface water and debris are reported throughout the county, while a tree was also said to have fallen on the road between Ballynacally and Ennis.

The ESB says 6-and-a-half thousand people are without power after winds hit up to 100 kilometres per hour; mostly in the South-East.

Just under 100 homes were without power in Kilrush this morning, but that issue has now been rectified Most of these are in the South and East, though issues remain near Lahinch and Barefield, with around 70 homes affected.
