The young, the old, the brave and the bold will assemble in Spancilhill in the coming days for the most iconic event of Clare’s agricultural calendar.
This Monday marks the arrival of the 2024 Spancilhill Fair which will see horse traders from far and wide descend on the Fair Green to strike up a deal.
A number of competitions will punctuate the day’s proceedings, including Best Connemara Pony, Best Heavyweight Cob and the hallowed Champion of the Fair.

Secretary of the Spancilhill Fair Assocation Amy Ryan says sleeves will be rolled up and all hands will be on deck until Monday to put the finishing touches to the fair.
