Busy Day Of Clare Club Football Action In Store

There’s semi finals place up for grabs this afternoon in the Clare Senior Football Championship.

Kilmihil plays host to a double header of quarter final action, with the meeting of Doonbeg and Clondegad the first game up.

These sides met in the opening round in 2016 when a late flurry of goals saw the Magpies over the line.

Throw in there is at 2.30pm.

Champions Kilmurry Ibrickane do battle with Eire Óg for the fifth time in the last six seasons in the second game of the day in Kilmihil.

These sides also met 12 months ago in Round One with the Bricks victorious en route to claiming Jack Daly.

The Townies are without a number of key players for this game with intercounty star Dean Ryan unavailable as he is currently travelling.

Manager Paul Madden feels they will miss his influence.

That one starts at 4pm.

The action then moves to Doonbeg where a repeat of the 2015 final sees Miltown and Cooraclare renew their recent rivalry.

It’s the third year running that the sides have met in the championship, with Miltown coming out on top on each occasion.

Manager Michael Neylon says they’re eager to make the most of the chance to keep the season going.

There’s one game in Round Three of the championship also to be sorted out this afternoon as Ennistymon and Lissycasey clash in Cusack Park for the right to face Cratloe in the last eight.

That one has a 2pm throw in.

Meanwhile, there’s also survival in the top tier on the line this afternoon as Wolfe Tones and Kilkee square off in the relegation final.

They meet in Ennistymon at 2.30pm.

 
The line up for the final of the intermediate championship will also be decided this afternoon.

There’s a double header in Cooraclare as Kilmihil and Coolmeen get underway at 1pm while the clash of Kilrush and Kildysart has a 3pm throw in.
