Clare GP Says Confirmed RSV Cases Just The “Tip Of The Iceberg”

A prominent Clare GP says the numbers of confirmed cases of RSV in the country over the past fortnight is only the tip of the iceberg.

Hundreds of people are currently in hospital with the severe respiratory virus, according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, with infants under 12 months of age accounting for nearly half of all cases.

The Irish Medical Council has issued a warning that people should avoid kissing and cuddling babies and that parents should limit the number of people visiting their new-born at the moment.
