Clare GAA are inviting clubs to nominate who they think should succeed Davy Fitzgerald as Clare Senior Hurling Manager.

Last nights Special Meeting of the Board also heard reports from each intercounty management team on their 2016 season.

Chairman of Clare GAA Joe Cooney informed the meeting that nominations for the next Senior Hurling Manager should be made through club secretaries, and be with county secretary Pat Fitzgerald no later than 5pm on Monday next.

No timeframe has been outlined for the new manager to be in place, with the board stating that the next step of the process will be decided when all nominations have been received.

Outgoing manager Davy Fitzgerald stated in his report that he felt 2016 was a progressive season for the squad, but also felt that the team may have peaked too early in the year following their League success.

Football boss Colm Collins also submitted his report, reflecting on a successful year while also praising the positive impact of the new Centre of Excellence in Caherlohan in preparing his team.

The meeting also heard concerns about winter training facilities for underage county teams, as last years poor weather conditions meant that pitches were difficult to acquire.

No new managements were ratified, but further progress is expected to be made known when delegates reconvene for the October meeting in two weeks time.
