Its address may have been the subject of controversy this week, but Shannon Airport won't be changing its name.
Clare County Council recently passed a motion suggesting that the airport become known as 'Shannon International Airport'
It was hoped that this would ensure maximum recognition for Shannon outside of Ireland, but management at the airport disagree.
In a response issued to the Council, seen by Clare FM, Shannon has said that the airline industry all know that it is international, rather than domestic, and have questioned whether the change would be of any benefit to its profile.
