A Limerick couple have been granted a 53% writedown on their mortgage at the personal insolvency court in Ennis.
The hearing heard that the couple had received letters on three successive Christmas Eves telling them they had to leave their properties.
Their mortgage loan had been bought by Shoreline Residential Ltd. from IBRC, and the company had engaged Pepper to manage its IBRC portfolio.
The couple, who weren't in court for the hearing, fell into debt after the husband suffered a stroke, and his wife was forced to give up work to become his carer.
It’s reported that the value of their writedown was €98,250.
